Twenty-three years ago, Christina Adamo thought her chance at a college degree had slipped away for good. Today, the psychology and sociology major is a Citrus College graduate headed to Cal Poly Pomona, proof that it's never too late to return to the classroom — and to a dream she never stopped carrying.

She thought her dream of earning a college degree would be forever out of reach. However, after hearing the success story of someone with a similar background, she was inspired to enroll in classes at Citrus College in early 2020.

"It was really hard to come back. I was nervous – especially when I walked into class and saw that everyone around me was really young," Ms. Adamo said.

"Fortunately, all of my classmates were great. To be honest, I was surprised at how focused they were. I enjoyed watching them and seeing their willingness to learn."

Now, Ms. Adamo will be transferring to Cal Poly Pomona in the fall. Her goal is to use her education to help children and at-risk youth.
